Verbena bonariensis is a perennial, in the Polish climate it requires covering for the winter, recommended for warmer regions. It grows to about 1 m in height, but its openwork shape makes it fit perfectly even when planted at the front of a flower bed. Verbena blooms for a very long time, the first flowers appear in July and last until the first frost. Withered inflorescences are also very decorative, so it is worth leaving them in the flowerbed until spring. It is a melliferous plant – it attracts numerous butterflies, bees and many other insects.
