- Grows up to 1.5 m high and across, making compact and elevated clusters.
- Develops stiff stems which are purple in hue and do not bend under the weight of its flowerheads.
- Boasts oval brightly green leaves with slightly serrated edges.
- On top of its stems displays dense pointed inflorescences up to 20 cm long which over time turn beautiful colours – at first they are crème-white and then become intense pink.
- Blooms profusely on annual stems from July until October.
- Prefers moderately wet, humus soils with a slightly acidic pH; does well in both sunny and half-shaded positions
- Cold-hardy.
- Requires radical pruning each spring before commencing vegetation, it is best to cut out all its stems at about 10 cm above the previous year cutting.
