Drzewo truskawkowe

Arbutus unedo L.
  • A shrub or small tree. It grows slowly, reaching a height of 2-3 m after 10 years in our climate (in its native land, it grows to 10-12 m).
  • The leaves are evergreen, slightly glossy, and leathery.
  • The flowers are white, with a delicate honey scent, bell-shaped, pendulous, and gathered in inflorescences.
  • They appear in autumn and adorn the plant simultaneously with the fruit. The edible fruit is numerous. The fruit, gathered in clusters, is initially yellowish, turning intensely red when ripe. The flesh is dark yellow. The fruit is edible raw, but is mainly used for preserves, wines, or liqueurs.
  • Moderately moist soil with an acidic pH, in a sunny or partially shaded location.
  • Recommended as a houseplant or patio plant, grown in containers or as a bonsai.
  • It’s not completely frost-resistant. You can try growing older specimens in the ground in warmer regions, but it needs to be carefully protected for the winter.
