- A hydrangea displaying flowers in astonishing colours, valuable for bouquets.
- Grows vigorously, becomes up to 1.5-2.0 m high and across, develops erected stiff stems.
- Develops oval dark green leaves which on both sides are covered with coarse hairs; in the autumn they turn red and brown and become extremely ornamental.
- Displays large cone-like inflorescences, blooms in June and July but its flowerheads remain in shrubs till the autumn and sometimes even throughout winter; at first its inflorescences are crème-white, in mid-summer they become dark pink and turn purple red in the autumn.
- Excellent for dry flowers and for making beautiful bouquets.
- Prefers half-shaded or sunny positions but does not like to be exposed strongly sunlit places; tolerant of short, temporary droughts but prefers constantly wet soils; should rather be grown in a neutral or acidic pH soil.
