Summer GlowPBR

Hydrangea serrata ‘Summer Glow’ PBR
  • Grows into a compact, rather low semi-circular shrub becoming up to 1.0 m high and 90 cm across.
  • Develops green leaves in hue which in autumn turn red.
  • The colour of its flowers depends on the soil reaction (in alkaline soils its inflorescences become light pink and in acidic soils they change colour to pastel blue); its inflorescences consist of both fertile and sterile flowers and develop on annual stems.
  • Blooms from June to August.
  • Prefers half-shaded positions, likes humus soils, moderately moist substrate with a slightly acidic reaction.
  • Can be grown as a solitaire shrub or in clusters.
  • Its flowers, both fresh and preserved, can be used in floral arrangements.
  • Despite its cold hardiness, it is recommended to protect younger plants against winter cold.
