- A decorative tree. In Poland, it grows to a height of 15-20 m. It often forms multi-stem forms and in the first years of cultivation resembles tall shrubs.
- The young round leaves that develop in spring are purple, later turning green. In autumn, they take on shades of red, orange and gold.
- After falling, the leaves give off an interesting spicy/caramel/gingerbread, sweet scent.
- It prefers fertile, constantly moderately moist soils
- It grows best in sheltered places, from slightly shaded to sunny.
- The plant is frost-resistant, but sensitive to spring, May frosts. Young plants are more susceptible to freezing, so in the first years of cultivation it is worth covering the trunks of young plants.
