- Grows into a small shrub, up to 2 m high, rather a slow grower with wide-spreading habit.
- Its leaves are golden yellow at first and get darker in the summer and yellow in the autumn, displaying attractive shading.
- Blooms in early spring (March-April) before its leaves develop, displays flowers which are pale pink in colour and slightly red in buds.
- Requires rich humid soils and a fully-sunlit position.
