Royal Purple

Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’
  • A shrub reaching about 3-4 m in height. The shape is quite loose, irregular, rounded in outline.
  • Young leaves are dark purple. In autumn, before falling, the leaves turn bright red.
  • Flowers appear in June, they are yellow, small, only 3-4 mm in diameter, gathered in inflorescences abundantly covering the entire shrub. As they bloom, they become feathery, creating fluffy, pink-red “wigs”.
  • Plants tolerate even longer water shortages and soil salinity well, they are fully resistant to frost. In the coldest regions of the country, the tops of shoots can freeze, which grow intensively until the end of summer and do not always have time to lignify before the arrival of winter.
  • They grow well in warm and permeable soils.
