- An erect shrub.
- Leaves are greenish-gray, lanceolate.
- Blooms on one-year-old shoots.
- Flowers are clustered in elongated panicles at the tips of the shoots. The fragrant, honey-producing flowers attract numerous butterflies and other insects. Blooms from June to autumn.
- This plant has average soil requirements and prefers sunny locations, sheltered from the wind in winter.
- It is not fully frost-hardy, so it is advisable to cover the base of the shrub. The shoots do not wood sufficiently before winter and are often frost-damaged, but with heavy annual pruning, they regrow and flower well. It regenerates quickly in spring.
