- Originates from ‘Duke’, bred by James F. Hancock, Michigan State University, USA.
- Mature shrubs can be 1.5 m high and 1 m wide; develops upright habit.
- Self-fertile, but cross-pollination makes its fruits bigger and better.
- fruits is unusually the same; comparing to ‘Bluecrop’, its berries have better firmness, much better flavour and boast considerably longer storage life; its first fruits can be eaten fresh, they are also good for freezing, jams, jellies and yoghurts.
- ‘Draper’ ripens a few days after ‘Duke’, but before ‘Bluecrop’; exceptionally good for machine harvesting.
- Not recommended for damp and cold places.
- Needs to be protected from mummy berry blight.
