• A dwarf shrub. A densely branched shrub of the Kurume group with a compact habit.
  • After about 10 years of cultivation, it grows to 80 cm in height and width.
  • The leaves are dark green and glossy, about 2 cm long, and semi-evergreen. In autumn, they turn brown and red.
  • The flowers are numerous, bright carmine red, funnel-shaped, and about 2.5 cm in diameter. The petal edges are slightly wavy. During the flowering period, the shrub is covered in abundant blooms. Individual flowers are clustered in clusters of about 6 in terminal inflorescences. It blooms in late May and early June.
  • Requires a sunny or partially shaded location. It prefers moderately moist, humus-rich, acidic soil.
  • It is ideal for growing in oriental gardens and heathlands, alongside acidophilic plants.
  • This variety is quite frost-hardy, but it can freeze slightly in harsher winters, so it requires protection. It is advisable to plant shrubs in quiet places and sheltered from winter winds.
