• A vigorous shrub with an upright habit and arching shoots. It reaches 2-2.5 m in height.
  • The leaves are lanceolate, elongated, and dark green, with slightly pubescent undersides.
  • The purple flowers with a yellow eye are clustered at the ends of annual shoots in striking inflorescences. Fragrant and attracting insects, including numerous butterflies, it blooms from June to autumn.
  • It thrives best in warm, sunny or lightly shaded locations; it prefers fertile, moist soil.
  • It tolerates difficult urban conditions and is perfect for both the allotment and park settings.
  • It is not fully frost-hardy. The shoots do not wood sufficiently before winter and are often frost-damaged, but with heavy annual pruning, they regrow and bloom well. It regenerates quickly in spring.
