- Develops dark purple red buds which open to slightly lighter flowers, up to 2 cm across, darkly streaked on the outside and with white margins, their throats are lighter. Flowers later than most kalmias.
- One of the most beautiful cultivars of Kalmia latifolia.
- Totally cold hardy.
