The Kalmia (Kalmia latifolia) comes from the Ericaceae family, and that is why its requirements are similar to those of azaleas and rhododendrons. It grows into an evergreen shrub with a compact habit. It is still a considerably little known plant but no doubt worth propagating because of its original flowers with unusual structure. It starts displaying flowers in May and June. It also boasts ornamental leaves which are dark green and shiny. In cultivation, it usually reaches the height up to 1.5 m.
