Ornamental saskatoon

Saskatoon (Amelanchier Medik.) – a genus of shrubs or small trees from the Rosaceae family.

These plants have edible and sweet fruit, but in some species they are bland or floury in taste, which is why these varieties are grown as ornamental. In spring, their flowers develop along with the leaves and are pollinated by insects. The entire bushes are covered with beautiful, white flowers. They are very attractive at this time. In autumn, the leaves turn red and orange. The fruit ripens in summer and is eagerly eaten by birds.
