Azalea

Azalea

The Azalea (Azalea L., Rhododendron L.) from the Ericaceae family is an extremely ornamental and long-lived shrub. In spring its shrubs are covered with beautiful flowers. In autumn they drop their leaves. Some shrubs after a many-year long cultivation can grow even up to 2 m high and 2m across; however, they are usually slightly smaller. As all Ericaceaes, they prefer permeable and humus rich soils with an acidic reaction (pH 4–5.5).
