The Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) – is a shrub or a small tree from the Rosaceae family. Depending on a variety they can reach 1.5–4 m high. They are undemanding in cultivation and do well in most soils. They prefer sunny positions but are draught intolerant. Serviceberry is usually high yielding and its sweet fruits can be enjoyed raw, they are also good for preserves and jams.
