Jostaberry is a hybrid resulting from the crossing of the blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) and the gooseberry (Ribes grossularia).

Jostaberry bushes resemble blackcurrants and have similar cultivation requirements. However, they grow more vigorously and require more pruning. The fruit is the size of a gooseberry, grows in clusters, and is black and red.
