- Compact habit, vertical growth.
- Leaves typical of the species, decorative and glossy, evergreen.
- Flower buds are as decorative as flowers. They have a strong red color. The flowers on the outside remain red and contrast strongly with the white inside of the flower. An irregular burgundy stripe is visible on a white background. Single large flowers, up to 3.5 cm in diameter – catch the eye. Flowers collected in inflorescences.
- Cold hardy as all Kalmias.
