• ‘Bandeau’ and ‘Kaleidoscope’ cross bred and named by Dr Karl-Heinz Hübbers, registered in 2016; its name alludes to its flowers’ colour and half-open shape.
  • Develops an elevated, vertical habit and in 10 years becomes 1.6 m high and 1 m wide.
  • Enjoys elliptical dark green leaves which are slightly corrugated on edges and up to 7.5 cm long and 3.5 cm wide.
  • Its extremely rich burgundy red buds only half open with time to display flowers which in throats are black red with a white blotch in the centre and a white ribbon on the petal margin; an individual flower becomes about 2 cm wide.
  • Totally cold hardy as all kalmias.
