- Grows into a shrub up to 3 m high, develops erect stiff sprouts.
- Boasts slightly shiny green leaves.
- Blooms on annual stems.
- Develops large, cone-like slender inflorescences; blooms from August to the autumn, displays nicely scented flowers which lure insects; wilted flowerheads do not fall off but remain in shrubs and become extremely ornamental in the garden throughout the autumn and winter.
- Tolerant and easy to grow; however, it does best in sunny and sheltered positions in permeable soils.
- Requires pruning in the spring.
- Totally cold hardy.
