In production:

  • Grows into an evergreen bush, its young sprouts are ornamental.
  • Develops a wide-spreading, bushy compact habit and within ten years becomes 1.5 m high and across.
  • Develops dark green leaves which are shiny on top, its young spring sprouts are crimson red in colour and extremely ornamental.
  • Displays white flowers gathered on top of sprouts in elevated panicles, blooms not too profusely in April.
  • Requires half-shaded or shaded positions; prefers acidic soils, moderately wet and humus.
  • Cold hardy, does well in winter in positions sheltered from winter winds.
