• An evergreen, low-growing shrub with a cushion-like habit. After 10 years, it grows to about 0.3 m in height and almost as wide.
  • Breed by Hobbie D.G. in Germany; commercially introduced: 1978.
  • Leaves are dark green, glossy, 1.5 cm long, ovate, and pointed.
  • Flowers are purplish-pink, with a burgundy pattern on the upper petal. They are borne in clusters of 2-3 in loose, terminal inflorescences. Blooms in May.
  • Requires partial shade and humus-rich, acidic, and moderately moist soil.
  • Frost hardiness is good, down to -22°C.
