  • A low, compact, evergreen shrub, growing up to 60 cm tall and similarly wide.
  • Small, elliptical, glossy leaves. Young leaves are slightly pubescent.
  • Pink flowers with a delicate, speckled pattern on the upper petal. Blooms profusely in May.
  • Prefers partial shade, acidic pH, and average, moderately moist garden soil.
  • It is readily planted in home gardens, but also in parks, rock gardens, and heathlands.
  • Frost hardiness is moderate, but requires sheltered locations.
