• A semi-evergreen shrub, low and compact. It has a spherical and flattened habit. Slow-growing.
  • After 10 years of cultivation, it reaches 0.4 m in height and 0.8 m in width.
  • The leaves are glossy, green, elliptical, and slightly hairy, remaining on the shrub in winter.
  • The flowers are funnel-shaped, 5-6 cm in diameter, brick-orange with a red tint, fading in sunlight.  They are clustered in showy, terminal inflorescences of 2-4. Flowering is very profuse. It blooms quite late (from late May to the first week of June).
  • It requires a sunny or partially shaded location and acidic, moist, and humus-rich soil.
  • It looks particularly beautiful planted in rock gardens and alpine gardens. Recommended for planting in home gardens and Japanese gardens, alongside other azaleas and dwarf rhododendrons.
  • Frost hardiness is good, but planting in sheltered, sheltered locations and providing good winter cover are recommended.
