Cotoneaster is a genus of plants in the Rosaceae family. Depending on the classification, there are approximately 80–90 species. They are popularly grown in gardens and parks, for example, as embankments. Numerous species are cultivated as ornamentals for their intensely colored fruit and autumn-changing leaves, sometimes also for their habit and abundant flowering. They are also valued for their low soil requirements.
