The strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo L.) is a species of perennial plant in the heather family (Ericaceae).
The fruit is an edible, fleshy berry up to 2 cm in diameter. It is orange-red on the outside (the flesh is yellowish). It resembles a strawberry, hence one of the plant’s species names.
