Gooseberry

GOOSEBERRY, gooseberry currant (commonly known as gooseberry) (Ribes uva-crispa) belongs to the Grossulariaceae family and grows in the wild in Europe, Asia and Africa. It is commonly cultivated in Poland. There are over 1,500 gooseberry varieties and most of them boast smaller or greater thorns; however, some thornless cultivars are also popular. Gooseberry produces berries which are mostly green or red in colour, they can be enjoyed raw or used in the food processing industry and added to jams, juices or fruit preserves.
